Autism Support Unit (ASU)
The SEWS Autism Support Unit (ASU) enrols students in kindergarten to year 6 who present with an Austism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The ASU works toward successfully transitioning students back into either their local primary school or into their next setting being their high school program.
Students continue to work within the NSW Board of Studies, Teaching Education Standards (BOSTES) syllabuses which are adjusted to cater to their personalised learning styles. Incorporated into the curriculum are specialised programs which aim to enhance social skills, behaviour and communication.
The intervention program maintains a strong link with each student’s local school. SEWS ASU supports two classes at SEWS and attempts to maintain these class age stage appropriate.
